At noon on February 15, 1965, Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag was raised for the very first time on Parliament Hill. A year later on the same day the National Flag Day Of Canada was declared.
Celebrating its 58th anniversary this year, the national flag is a symbol that unites all Canadians and reflects the common values we hold so dear — equality, diversity and inclusion.

The first official tournament was held in 1977, although the first three tournaments from 1974 to 1976 were held unofficially. The tournament has been dominated by the teams from Canada and Russia, accounting for 32 of the 46 overall gold medals awarded (through 2022).
