The Story Of A Man, His Family And The Canadian Flag

Hi friends and family,

I’m not sure how many of you know or remember that in 1985 Stuart McLean introduced himself to me at our Flag Store in Thornton. At that time my Father had recently passed away and the eight children were running the company in our early twenties. 70 employees at the time. Meeting Stuart changed our lives. Coincidentally, and 25 years later my daughter, Michelle, worked with Stuart’s Music Director, John Sheard, and he asked her and two of her friends to form The Vinylettes, going on tour for two years with Stuart. I am extremely fortunate to have had an electronic version of that interview with me on my phone (or anywhere at all!). It’s 16 mins or so. I thought you might enjoy hearing it knowing my gratitude and love and prayers for Stuart McLean.

Check Out This Beautiful Canada 150 Banner!

Check out this beautiful Canada 150 Banner flying in the country side.  This banner was made at our Factory in Barrie, as are all of our custom products celebrating Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation!

What does the Canada 150 logo represent?

The logo is composed of a series of diamonds, or “celebratory gems”, arranged in the shape of the iconic maple leaf. The four diamonds at the base represent the four original provinces that formed Confederation in 1867: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Additional diamonds extend out from the base to create nine more points—in total representing the 13 provinces and territories.

The 50th Anniversary of the National Flag of Canada is fast approaching

On February 15, 2015, the National Flag of Canada will turn 50 years old.

Our flag was officially adopted 50 years ago and raised for the first time on Parliament Hill, across Canada and at Canadian missions around the world.

Since 1965, the red and white maple leaf has been the most significant symbols of our identity and a source of inspiration and pride for us all.
